Recently the government of Tanzania through the minister of Investment, Industry and Trade promulgated regulations say, the Companies Act (Retention and Disposal of Companies Documents) Regulations GN No. 465 of 2023 (herein after referred as the regulation) which lays down a regulatory framework for retention and disposal of companies’ documents. The regulation imposes obligations to companies to keep original documents of the company within a stipulated period and procedure for disposal of the documents. The regulation also provides for penalties in case of failure to comply with the regulations.
